Presidential report by Daniel Takacs
President’s Report by Daniel Takacs, President, HAAW
Dear Washington Hungarians and Friends,
I would like to thank everyone who just signed up for the current year’s membership. Your membership fees are a vital part of running our organization. Some of the many things they support are insurance fees, website management, State registration fees, event space fees, property taxes, the various Hungarian scout groups, the Hungarian School, the library, and dance programs, and even more. We literally could not function without your support.
If you have not already done so, please sign up online at haaw-seattle.org. Also, the membership committee might reach out to you to ask you for your support this year as well.
Our postal address has changed. It is now:
Hungarian American Association of Washington (HAAW)
P.O. Box 2563
Woodinville, WA 98072
OK, so now the monthly report:
I would like to thank the artists, organizers, volunteers and members of the Seattle Pecs Organization who contributed to the recent very successful open house, There were attendees who came all the way from Spokane and Yakima, and the contributions of the presenting artists was truly humbling.
The events committee is now working full steam ahead, organizing the fall and spring programs. We hope to see you all there. We are mindful of the COVID situation, and are carefully following State regulations to make our gatherings as safe as possible.
The Board had a busy agenda this September. Among the topics discussed were upcoming events, group organization, and communications. As a member, I saw HAAW newsletters and attended events, but did not fully comprehend what a tremendous amount of work goes on behind the scenes. As President, I now see the group collecting articles for the newsletter, doing yearly taxes, making sure we have proper insurance, recruiting volunteers, managing all the various communication channels, and much more! If you are interested in contributing to any of these endeavors in some way, please let us know. We would love to have your help, and you would have the opportunity to meet other hardworking volunteers, and make some new friends.
I am really looking forward to all the fall and spring gatherings.
