School corner February

by Julia Deák Sandler

Hungarian School Seattle is continuing its online courses this winter quarter. Our adult classes have been meeting weekly on Sundays since January 9th, and the kids have been meeting twice monthly online for an hour on Saturdays, after the scout activities. Babies, toddlers and their favorite adults are continuing their Bobita classes on Wednesday mornings with Bori Görög.

We don’t have any big news to report, but one development that we’re very proud to announce is that we finally launched a Homework Help session under the leadership of Melissa Barton. Melissa started studying Hungarian with Julia Deák Sandler as far back as 2013, after which she joined the Debrecen Summer School at Univ. of Debrecen and then lived in Hungary for over a year. Her Hungarian is great, and we are so thankful that she is now leading these Wednesdays sessions from Portland. Our adult learners are lucky to have this opportunity to receive help and encouragement with their Hungarian homework from 7-8 pm every Wednesday on Zoom. If anyone else would like to drop in to work with our adult learners, many of whom are new HAAW members, or just to chat a little bit in Hungarian, please write to hungarianschoolseattle@gmail.com and we will send you the link.
