School Corner in September

by Edina Lugosi, School Director

New school year, new location, new teachers – School is starting!

September is very exciting every year because of the start of school. At the Hungarian School in Seattle, this is especially true this year. The small team, reduced due to COVID and forced to go online, is waiting for the enthusiastic students again in person this year, but at a new location.

Our new address is 7070 SE 24th St, Mercer Island, WA 98040.

In addition to the new location, the team has also been expanded with new teachers. The new director of the school, Edina Lugosi, and a qualified and experienced teacher, Tamás Farkas, are now working hard to ensure that the children learn Hungarian as much as possible and with as much joy as possible every two weeks. We are particularly pleased that the Sándor Kőrösi Csoma program, which was suspended due to the pandemic, has restarted this year, and that our new KCSP helper, Márton Huszár, has already arrived to the Hungarian community in Seattle. Marci will be the teacher of the preschool group and will use his drawing skills and dexterity to guide the preschoolers through the maze of Hungarian language and culture.

This year, the school is starting classes for five different age groups. We can provide learning opportunities for everyone, from tiny babies to teenagers.

The teachers, the classrooms and the school are ready. We warmly welcome school-age children who speak Hungarian or at least understand Hungarian!
